MBS Syllabus And Subjects In Nepal: Complete Course Analysis

Master of Business Studies is a four semester degree program in the field of business and management. This course lasts for 24 months.

MBS program is a two-year course divided into four semesters. This program covers core courses, specialization courses, and a dissertation. It provides students with a thorough and in-depth understanding of business management.

Core management disciplines are taught in the first year of the program through lectures, workshops, and seminars in the classroom. Specialized courses are selected in the second year of the course.

MBS Syllabus And Subjects In Nepal Complete Course Analysis

Students enrolled in the Master of Business Studies (MBS) program at KMC must complete 1000 points of study. It is necessary to finish two specialization courses (200 marks), fourteen analytical and core courses (700 marks), two seminar papers, or a thesis (100 marks).

Core Courses

Core business courses serve as the foundation of the MBS syllabus, integrating analytical and functional domains to provide a comprehensive grasp of business and management.

These courses give students a deep understanding of important business topics. It includes subjects such as research methodology and statistical methods, business economics, organizational behavior and human resources management, corporate financial management, management accounting, marketing management, production and operation management, entrepreneurship development, and business policy and environment.

Specialization Course

Specialization in any one of the areas, such as accounting, finance, marketing, or management, enables the student to develop expertise in his/her concentration area.

Dissertation

MBS programme requires students to conduct original research work during the four semesters of the two-year study period. Students are required to write a dissertation based on their original research work as per the MBS syllabus. Students writing dissertations are encouraged to write their dissertation within the selected specialization area.

A student must take a research assignment and prepare a dissertation at the end of the fourth semester in the format prescribed by the FOM. The colleges will assign a faculty member to supervise the research work. The research work must be presented in the format prescribed by FOM. The evaluation of the research shall be based on the following two components: 

Written Report: 75 % 

Viva-voce: 25% 

FOM will conduct the written evaluation through two independent evaluators averaged marks will be given. The concerned campus/college shall conduct the viva-voce examination.

Thesis And Project Work In Kathmandu Model College

Thesis paper of MBS (KMC)

Students should carry out research, develop a thesis paper, and write two reports on subjects related to their field of specialization. A faculty member with expertise in the relevant field should supervise the writing of the thesis paper. 75% of the marks are given in written form, while the remaining 25% are given through viva. A panel of one or two externals will be asked to take the viva and assess the paper.

Students should submit three copies of the thesis to KMC’s faculty for further review. The concerned campus/department should submit two copies of the thesis to the office of the Dean, Faculty of Management, for external evaluation.

Project Work Of MBS (KMC)

Students should write term papers and field reports and submit them to the faculty.  The term paper should have a word count of approximately 2000. The relevant department will carry out an internal assessment of the term paper. There will be 25 marks for the term paper.

The student should gather data during the fieldwork, tabulate, analyze, synthesize, and present the material in a report following the format standards. The report should have a word count of approximately 4,000. The field report will be worth 75 marks.
